Welcome to The Fencing Exchange!
If you want to learn how
to fence, you've come to the right place. We take you through the
fine art of fencing, step-by-step, from beginner to advanced.
Young and old have come to The Fencing Exchange to pursue their dreams
of becoming "a fencer".
We have a serious
approach to learning. Fencing Exchange fencers are expected to
demonstrate honesty, respect, sportsmanship, and personal control at all
times. In return, we will teach them to be skilled, balanced, beautiful
fencers.

Our school is based on the French method
of fencing instruction.
Some material is borrowed from the classical Italian
school along with modern international methodology(ies).
Students
will develop a classical
background, allowing them to
later modify their
style to match the kind of fencing they wish to
do. This can
range from
high-level competition to
casual fencing and forms a
good basis for other areas of swordplay.
Our pedagogy rests
upon ten foil levels. Each level
guides the student
with a
moderated progression of techniques.
Under this system of graded levels,
students learn basic fencing theory.
Modern fencing's other
two weapons, sabre and epee, are taught in four
levels separate from foil,
and develop their own character
and conclusions
evolving from foil's
principles.
A cadre of
strategic, tactical and applied classes are also offered. These classes
teach fencers how to
plan actions with the techniques they
have learned in our standard
classes. Although it is not necessary to take all ten foil levels
before learning to fence with a different
weapon, attaining a level IV in foil is required
before taking some of our supplementary classes.
Open-bouting is available
to all students and visiting fencers. Fencers
are welcome to come in and casually or competitively fence
at their own leisure. We provide a clean, safe,
and productive environment in which to learn.
