The Talarico family has been involved in the real
estate business for
over 100 years. In 1894, my great
grandfather, Antonio Talarico, became involved in the rental
business with properties in Carbondale and Taylor, Pennsylvania.
In 1899, numerous rental properties were purchased in the Scranton
area which are still held in the family name. My grandfather,
James Talarico, took over the business in the 1950s after his father,
Antonio,
passed
away, he continued to expand the business. In 1953, my father
Anthony Sr.(James'son) moved from
Scranton to Tunkhannock to work in a barbershop with Tom Shaffer.
He then continued the family tradition by purchasing rental
properties in Wyoming County.
In the 1970s he formed a new company, Panis
Associates,
which purchased, remodeled, rented,
and sold
single-family homes. My father soon gained a reputation for helping
families find ways to purchase their first home.
In 1980,I joined my father full-time in the business after serving
in the
Coast Guard. Through the 80's we continued to purchase and
rehab houses and apartment buildings. By 1990 we embarked on a new
challenge, the creation of Highfields,
a family community which is now in its second phase. Now in the
new
millennium, the Talarico family looks forward to
carrying on another
century of the
family real estate tradition as the Talarico Real
Estate Co.
